Community Impact Showcase

The RISE Community Impact Showcase elevates and celebrates the community projects and programs designed and further developed through the RISE Urban Leadership Fellows Program and Nonprofit Partnerships technical assistance cohorts.

This annual event features project exhibits and a judged pitch competition, where the first-, second-, and third-place presenters receive grants to support their vital work in the community.

Uprise Theatre

Founded in 2012 and modeled after UC Berkeley’s public health MAPP (Multi-cultural AIDS Peer Prevention) Program, Uprise Theatre has been informing the community of its legal and constitutional rights through art and educational workshops for the past 11 years.

Club FBS

Club FBS’s purpose is to create a positive masculinity model and character—building space for middle and high-school-aged Black boys. Its goals will be attained through an increase in literacy levels and the emotional IQs of its members to develop a commitment to service of their families, communities, and world.

First Gen Scholars believes that every first-generation student deserves the opportunity to have a thriving future. Its mission of navigating first gens to gain admission to college and graduate debt-free is a crucial step toward this future.

The Emmy-winning Fresh Glass is a deep dive into food, beverage, and entrepreneurship with guests whose backgrounds and journeys symbolize empowerment, grit, and perseverance. Join them on adventures to wineries, breweries, restaurants, and businesses created by women and BIPOC trailblazers.

Selah Café y Libros is a culturally inspired craft coffee shop and community bookstore that will provide a safe and welcoming space. Selah believes we can create an impact amongst young students and professionals by partnering with organizations and promoting literacy, while still providing ethically sourced coffee.

You Belong Here is San Diego’s first dedicated incubator space nurturing creative artists' intellectual property and imaginative experiences while providing essential support for building prosperous businesses. #StartHere: A Creative Arts Business Fellowship is its digital platform guiding artists from ideation to scalability.

As direct descendants of Campesino coffee producers, Radical Hope Coffee is reclaiming its right to control and benefit from its resources by directly trading its family-grown coffee to businesses that are invested in the empowerment of marginalized people.
